Gary is visiting Bemis Center with his art class.\u00a0He will be\u00a0a concept artist or animator.<\/p><\/div>\n

Gary Mosely II reaches for his pen in his backpack, and folds his tall body on\u00a0the stool to work at the large table.\u00a0He starts to draw, rapidly moving his pen,\u00a0explaining that\u00a0the Flock House reminds him of a lantern – only with more space. Or maybe a chair, like a paper flower, with petals. Or a lounge like a house. His pen races\u00a0as his mind moves\u00a0from idea to idea and his pen from image to image.<\/p>\n

On Google he saw paper lanterns as\u00a0flowers blooming. He envisions lounges distributed. Inviting people to chat and relax and paint.<\/p><\/div>\n

Flower shapes. His inspiration. Light, not heavy. “Light that does not feel humid.”<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Gary<\/a>\u00a0“I will install a fan on top of the petals.” \u00a0Flock House. “Nomadic but a hint of technology.”<\/p>\n

“Make a heat source to heat the water and then cool it. \u00a0Energy. Make things move without human hands.” He begins to write phrases next to his technical\u00a0drawing, flowing\u00a0down the page.<\/p>\n

\"Gary<\/a><\/p>\n

“I have an idea. \u00a0For nighttime, paper lanterns above it. \u00a0We need to look at the shape of flowers for inspiration or more organic shapes.”<\/p>\n

Cassidy is sitting across the table looking at a book. Ectopia<\/em>. A photo on the cover of Mary Mattingly’s Posthuman navigator<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gary glances over, \u00a0responding with ink, quickly sketching\u00a0a human form.<\/p>\n

Then\u00a0envisions an ocean house, more tropical.\u00a0“One to fit that motif.”<\/p>\n

He would like to work more on the Flock House project, but doesn’t know if he “has the time or ability to come down to Old Market.”<\/p>\n
